Meja来自瑞典、早已在欧陆、日本等地拥有广大知名度与销售基础的才女歌手Meja，1996年发表了其首张个人同名专辑，不仅在瑞典本土创下金唱片的销售纪录，并在活力四射的单曲“How Crazy Are You”的带领下，一举成功打进日本，专辑狂销近100万张。进入了Meja的音乐世界，不要以为她只是一派过江之鲫中的一个流行女歌手，听听她的声音，看看她的歌词内容就该了解，这女子真不简单。有一套自己的想法，她写歌，不是一般印象中以快节奏取胜的流行歌手，而是为了让自己能更清楚自己的想法，同样的，也希望阅听者能在享受她音乐的同时，做同样的反思。从音乐性来谈，从摇滚到爵士，从电子甚至到现在最流行的沙发音乐，都配着她一派温暖滑顺又不显无力的金嗓子流泄出来，没有Alanis Morissette的喊与愤怒，但同样有着摇滚歌手的活力，没有Sade低沉浓厚如巧克力般滑顺的丝绒羽毛声，却同样带着诱惑人的魅力。发行过三张专辑的Meja，推出首张精选辑收录黄湘怡“等”之原曲“All About The Money”、风靡日本的“How Crazy Are You”，“Im Here Saying Nothing”则是重新诠译日本女歌手矢井田瞳的成名曲by John BushAfter finding a hit in the early 90s as part of the dance-pop group Legacy of Sound, Meja went out on her own and became quite a popular solo act in Europe and Japan, though success in America was slower to come, unlike her Swedish comrades ABBA, Ace of Base and the Cardigans. Born near Stockholm, she was influenced by the music of her grandfather, a classical composer, as well as soul icons like Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles. She formed Legacy of Sound and co-wrote the groups world-wide club hit Happy, but Meja had other plans; after the groups demise, she began to tone down their hi-NRG style with a vocal sound more in tone with soul and jazz. She hooked up with producer Douglas Carr (Ace of Base, Dr. Alban) and released her self-titled debut album in 1995. It went gold in her native country and hit platinum in Japan. Her second album Seven Sisters was released in late 1997, and did almost as well as her debut. It received a belated American release in the summer of 1999.
