In December 2011, Mooney began dating singer Veronica Ballestrini. The couple wrote and sang songs together and formed a duo. They posted original and cover songs to YouTube throughout their relationship. The couple broke up in 2013. Mooney is subject to Ballestrinis song "Death of Me" and sings background vocals on it.
